FAQs

  • What is the can lining made of: A polyester-type material.  It is free of epoxy (which is where BPA & BPS is commonly used) and its derivatives.
  •  Are coconut milks free from peanut and tree nut cross-contamination: Yes.
  • What is guar gum: It comes is a plant related to the pea family; by grinding its seeds to a fine powder, it prevents separation and keeps coconut milk smooth and creamy. (Guar gum-free Coconut Milk & Creams available).

Recipe

Curried Black Bean Chili 

  • 2 cans (398mL) EC organic black beans, drained
  • 1 can (398mL) EC organic crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (160mL) EC organic coconut milk
  • 50g EC organic creamed coconut
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 Tbsp Spice Blend from Sherry Strong (Strong Spice Blend: grind in spice grinder or mortar and pestle until fine)
    • 1 Tbsp fennel seed
    • 1 Tbsp coriander seed
    • 2 Tbsp cumin seed
  • Fresh cilantro/coriander roughly chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced or julienned
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions:

  • Sauté onion, celery and carrot in coconut oil for 5 minutes
  • Add spices and sauce for 3 minutes
  • Add tomatoes, tomato paste, water and black beans
  • Add coconut milk and creamed coconut and season with sea salt to taste
  • Cook for a further 5 minutes and remove from heatServe with rice or quinoa and top with freshly chopped cilantro/coriander
